David was born and raised in upstate New York and is Jesuit educated. He graduated from the State University of New York with a B.S. in 1988. David has been a Hillsborough County resident since 1989.
David earned his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law with honors in 1997. While attending law school, he had the honor of attending a summer program in Oxford, England where he studied with other students across the nation. David was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1997. Before opening his own firm, David worked as an Assistant Public Defender. He is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in the area of real estate in addition to being a licensed real estate broker and a former mortgage broker. He also practices in the areas of small business litigation, personal injury and has represented high-profile clients in immigration matters.
Partner David Walkowiak is also certified by the Supreme Court of Florida in both Circuit Civil and Family Law Mediation. David is a Florida sports agent and a founding member of the USF Ice Bulls Hockey Team. In his spare time David has served as a high school hockey team coach, on the church council for All Saint’s Lutheran Church, and enjoys time playing recreational hockey and enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter!
Gwen E. Walkowiak is a partner in the family owned law firm of DHW Law, P.A. Gwen is a lifelong resident of Florida and has lived in Hillsborough County since 1984. She attended the University of South Florida where she earned her B.S. degree in Marketing in 1989. Then Gwen attended St. Thomas University in Miami where she earned her Juris Doctor in 2001. Gwen was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2002. After working in a law firm environment representing corporate clients for several years, Gwen joined her husband as a partner in DHW Law, P.A.
She wanted the personal client contact that working in a small firm provides because she can see up close and personal the difference her work makes in the lives of the people she represents. Gwen practices primarily in Real Estate, Estate Planning, Family Law and Immigration. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Christian Social Services and Angel of Hope Memorial Gardens. In her personal life, she is active in her church and enjoys reading, going to the beach and spending time with her family.
